Music has rest in it. This is like life, you need rest. Even if you use extremely advanced techniques such as circular breathing, you’re still going to need a rest at some point.

It is this very thing, the idea of being slaves to our projects, that I think it wise to mention that we need rest. We should finish our projects of course. We may need some rest in between, though.

Simply saying that doesn’t organize the idea of getting rest. This is why I’m planning to build this website in the pattern of Biblical rest. The Bible organized rest into a 7 day pattern, 7 year pattern, and a 50 year pattern. In the Bible, God saw the descendants of a man named Abraham living like slaves. God proceeded to take them out of their location and then teach them several things which is brought to us through the Bible, including a mandatory pattern of rest. Later, God sent His Son Jesus to die a perfect death and rise again, that all who trusted in God’s Son Jesus might have eternal rest after this life.

The pattern of rest allowed working yourself from dawn to dusk as hard as you were willing, and then every 7th day you had to rest in various ways… such as going to church, prayer, family time, doing things to help others, and just plain ‘ol relaxing. All the days started at dusk and ended at dusk, so thinking about a day was a bit different. When it came to years, God said to work six years in an honest kind of way, and then to relax on the seventh year because if ya did right, the sixth year God would provide enough for you and your family for both the sixth and the seventh year. When it came to the 48th year… (6 sets of 7 years, and 6 years -> (6 * 7) + 6 )) you were to rest the for the 49th and the 50th year. It repeated after the 50 year point back to the beginning of the 50 year cycle.

This is all perfection and such. I don’t anyone who’s ever been so good, but I’ll acknowledge the pattern makes a ton of sense for living healthy throughout life. In this acknowledgement, I’ll try to make 7 sets of pages of 7 pages. Every seventh page will be something toward listening or relaxing. In this way, maybe it’ll remind the reader that it’s not a bad idea to rest in music… or in life.
